From Geneva: Full-Day Trip to Chamonix and Mont-Blanc
427 ReviewsHop onto a bus from Geneva to discover the quaint, well-known Alpine skiing village of Chamonix.
La Cremerie du Glacier is a very charming, authentic little restaurant at the foot of the Argentiere glacier, hidden in the woods right next to the Grands Montets home run. The Ravanel family from Argentiere started selling drinks from a little cabin on the same site in 1926. The restaurant is still run by the same family who have made the Cremerie into something truly remarkable.
Before you can sample the delights of traditional Savoyard menu, you need to find the place! In winter, you can ski there by turning left about three quarters of the way down to Pierre et Ric homerun. In summer you can start walking up the Grands Montets on the paths around the forest and follow the signs to La Cremerie du Glacier, which stands at a height of 1300 m. It is well worth the trip!
The restaurant serves traditional Savoyard food like croûtes (toasted cheese on baguettes), omelettes and fondues, as well as salads, egg-based dishes and charcuterie etc. Everything is home made and you can taste the difference. There are also special winter and summer menus available at lunchtimes and in the evenings. Inside, you'll find the decor is classic mountain auberge style, with lots of wood and nick nacks, but this all just adds to the atmosphere!
Dans un cadre hors norme la crèmerie du glacier est aussi bon restaurant que l'aventure d'y monter est exaltante. Les fondues sont divines, les croutes au fromage délicieuses. A tester!
